Better Buggy Battle - December 11, 2020

 - The group says goodbye to Gerard and thank him for his hospitality.

- They BAMF to the Holimian forest. 

- They arrive outdoors in a forest clearing and it is dark. It is overcast and very dim.

- They start to hear chittering noises coming from the forest, which Sariel does not recognize.

- Zaril flies to the nearest tree to try to hide, and she hears a chittering very near her.

- Neil casts Lightning Arrow in preparation for a fight.

- There's a creature hovering just on the other side of the trunk that's nearly as big as she is that looks like a cross between a dragonfly and a praying mantis.

- Sariel casts Tongues and then walks towards the tree where Zaril went. She calls out in a friendly manner asking if they can hear her.

- Other creatures start coming towards them out of the forest look like a cross between a beetle and a scorpion. There are at least six of them. 

- Sariel says they are looking for Silvania, and they do not respond.

BATTLE of BUGS

- Neil shoots the Beetle-Scorpion(Green) with his longbow for 19 lightning dmg, then moves 

- Dragonfly-Praying Mantis(Blue) moves to Sariel and it swipes her with its talons for 21 slashing dmg, then misses her twice

- DPM(Green) moves closer to Zaril and then starts emitting a noxious green cloud, but everyone just shrugs it off.

- DPM(Orange) moves adjacent to Acta and swipes and misses her then gets her for 13 slashing dmg (Thank you, Uncanny Dodge), then misses again.

- DPM(Red) moves to Zaril and swipes at her for 20 slashing dmg then gets her again for 15 slashing dmg and then misses her.

- Acta Disengages from DPM(O) and moves to the edge of the clearing, and after her encounter with the DPM she knows that they don't have eyes and she doesn't think psychic dmg would hurt them very much, also that their scales are magical and might absorb magical energies, then she shoots her shortbow at BS(Orange) for 6 piercing dmg

- Zaril lands on the ground and then casts Steel Wind Strike hitting all the DPMs and BS(O) for 26 force dmg on all but DPM(G) who takes 54 force dmg. BS(O) dies. Her spell teleports her to flank DPM(B) with Sariel. She then Inspires Sariel.

- BS(G) moves to Penny and bites her for 4 piercing dmg then claws her for 4 slashing dmg then misses with its other claws then stabs her with its tail for 8 piercing dmg.

- BS(Purple) moves to Sariel misses biting her, misses clawing her, then claws her for 5 slashing dmg, then misses stabbing her with its tail

- BS(Blue) moves to Acta misses biting her, misses clawing her twice, and misses stabbing her with its tail

- BS(Red) moves to Penny misses biting her, claws her for 6 slashing dmg, claws her for 7 slashing dmg and stabs her with its tail for 6 piercing dmg

- BS(Lilac) moves to Neil and bites him for 4 piercing dmg and Neil is now not Frightened, but only because Luca is right there, then misses him with its claws twice, then misses stabbing him with its tail.

- Sariel examines the BS next to her and sees that it doesn't have eyes (or not obvious ones anyway), so blinding them would be useless. She then casts Maelstrom at point that gets half the enemies.

- Penny withstands the Maelstrom, then she bites BS(G) for 15 piercing dmg killing it. She then moves up next to Neil.

- Luca smashes BS(L) for 13 bludgeoning dmg and then hits it again for 24 bludgeoning dmg killing it. She then moves up to DPM(O)

- Neil shoots Lightning Arrow at DPM(R) for 20 lightning dmg and DPM(G) which is adjacent takes 5 lightning dmg

- DPM(R) withstands the Maelstrom, then moves to flank Sariel and swipes her with its talons for 29 slashing dmg, then does it again for 27 slashing dmg, then hits her again for 9 slashing dmg

- DPM(G) withstands the Maelstrom, then moves to Neil, misses him, then swipes him for 11 slashing dmg, then swipes him again for 14 slashing dmg

- DPM(B) misses Sariel, then swipes her for 16 slashing dmg, then swipes her again for 20 slashing dmg, and the Maelstrom fades into nothing.

- DPM(O) misses Luca three times

- Acta casts Magic Weapon on her xiphos and then stabs BS(B) for 12 piercing dmg. She then moves away from it and climbs a tree.

- Zaril flies away from DPM(B) towards Neil then casts Steel Wind Strike on all the DPMs and BS(P) dealing 42 force dmg to the DPMs, but missing BS(P) and killing DPM(G) and then teleports back to where she started and stabs DPM(B) with her rapier for 11 piercing dmg.

- BS(B) moves to Penny, then misses biting Penny, then misses clawing Penny, then claws Penny for 3 slashing dmg, and then stabs Penny with its tail for 5 piercing dmg.

- BS(R) misses biting Penny, then claw Penny for 3 slashing dmg, then claws Penny for 8 slashing dmg, then misses stabbing her with its tail

- BS(P) bites Sariel for 4 piercing dmg, for then misses her with its claws twice, then misses her with its tail.

- Sariel turns into a Water Elemental who then Whelms DPM(R) and BS(P), DPM(R) dodges, but BS(P) takes 14 bludgeoning dmg, is Grappled, and is now suffocating.

- Penny bites BS(R) for 12 piercing dmg.

- Luca moves to be adjacent for DPM(O) and BS(B) and smashes BS(B) for 19 bludgeoning dmg killing it and then misses DPM(O)

- Neil shoots BS(R) for 12 piercing dmg killing it. He scritches Penny quickly before moves to duck behind a bush.

- DPM(R) slices Water-Sariel for 8 slashing dmg, then misses her, then slices her for 7 slashing dmg

- DPM(B) misses Zaril, then slices her for 18 slashing dmg, then misses her.

- DPM(O) misses Luca three times.

- Acta Dashes to flank DPM(O) with Luca then she stabs it for 33 piercing dmg.

- Zaril misses DPM(B) with her rapier twice. She then Inspires Sariel.

- BS(P) misses biting Water-Sariel, claws her for 2 slashing dmg, then misses her with its claws, then misses with its tail.

- Sariel Whelms DPM(R), but it escapes and BS(P) dies.

- Penny moves to flank DPM(R) with Water-Sariel and Pounces on it for 11 slashing dmg.

- Luca smashes DPM(O) with her hammer for 10 bludgeoning dmg killing it then moves to flank DPM(R) with Water-Sariel and smashes it with her hammer for 14 bludgeoning dmg kill it too!

- Neil shoots DPM(B) with his longbow for 10 piercing dmg.

- DPM(B) slices Zaril for 28 slashing dmg, then misses her twice.

- Acta moves adjacent to DPM(B) and slices it like Zorro with her xiphos for 53 slashing dmg killing it.

BATTLE OVER

- Acta collects some of the scales off the DPMs 

- The forest is quiet now.

- Sariel becomes herself again then casts Cure Wounds (4th Lvl) on herself for 20 HP, then again at 3rd Level for 15 HP, then again at 3rd for 22 HP, then again at 2nd for 17 HP, and lastly at 2nd for 14 HP.

- Zaril flies above the tree line and finds Spiritwell Lake to the north about a day's walk away.

- Sariel examines the giant bug corpse and doesn't see anything that looks familiar at all in the insects. Not the shape of a wing or the color of a carapace.

- Neil "skins" one of the flying ones and Jinorah takes a nibble, but doesn't like it.

- Sariel casts Transport via Plants on a tree nearby with the other end of the plant-wormhole being the tree village square of Siannodel. 

- 4,160 XP ea for 178,860 XP total ea.
